Docker Compose is a powerful tool for running multi-container applications on Docker, defined using the Compose file format. It is included in Docker Desktop for Windows and macOS, or can be downloaded as binaries for Linux. The Compose file defines how one or more containers that make up an application are configured, and can be started with a single command: docker compose up. The quick start process involves defining an app’s environment with a Dockerfile, defining the services that make up the app in a Compose file, and then running docker compose up to start and run the entire application. The project is open source and contributions are welcome. Docker Compose is available in various formats including GitHub releases, Go packages, and Linux installations. It includes various badges for version, GoDocs, CI status, Go Report Card, Codecov, and OpenSSF Scorecard.
